We have long been interested in how to design a contemporary house in a village or historic setting. For us, it is important to respect the historical context and draw inspiration from traditional forms. We have returned to this theme repeatedly in Bukovany. Václav Navrátil has family, fields and a vineyard here, and together with Jan Sedláček and the SENAA team, we have gradually completed three projects in the local wine cellar lane. We began by renovating an uncle’s wine cellar, followed by two weekend houses serving the family as well as guests staying for short-term rental. Bukovanský Domeček is the latest of the three. When we first began working in the lane, it was neglected and gradually falling into disrepair. Today, it has become a place where local residents enjoy going for walks.
