Maketa Modelmakers

Maketa Modelmakers is an author-driven studio focused on architectural and urban models. Rooted in architectural practice, we understand the model as a tool for thinking rather than a mere presentation output. Each model is treated as a distinct work, where the intention of the designer meets our own authorship.

Our approach moves between precision and abstraction. Instead of reproducing everything, we aim to identify and communicate what is essential. The level of detail is always defined by what the model is meant to explain. Materiality plays a key role — we work with raw materials and often produce our own components to preserve authenticity. We combine manual craftsmanship with digital technologies, valuing the tension between machine precision and the natural imperfection of materials.

We collaborate with architects, developers, institutions, and marketing agencies. Our work ranges from competition and urban models to working models within the design process and presentation objects. Recently, we have been expanding into projects that operate between architecture and installation, including animatronic models that extend the communicative potential of physical models.

Our ambition is to shift the perception of the model from a static object to an active medium that enables understanding of architecture across different audiences. In the long term, we aim to expand internationally and to work on projects where the model becomes an integral part of the design process, not just its representation.
