What a Hut

The Zlín-based company What a Hut is passionate about delivering the perfect sauna experience. Their saunas unite local design, materials, and production. All models are created by Czech multidisciplinary designer Adéla Bačová, who also serves as the brand’s art director. The solid spruce panels are made from wood grown in the Czech Republic – in the regions of the Beskydy Mountains, Prostějov, and along the Elbe. Using state-of-the-art CNC technologies for panel processing, the company combines clean design with a series of precise details that have become a defining element of its identity.

The saunas are conceived as spaces for an essential experience – visual noise is reduced so that visitors can fully focus on their body, thoughts, or conversation.

Three core models offer several configuration options. In addition to large glazing, the medium-sized sauna features an intimate perforated wall that creates a distinctive play of light – penetrating from the exterior into the steam room and, conversely, from the stove area outward. The largest sauna accommodates both a steam room and a relaxation area, offering a comprehensive sauna experience.

Earth-toned finishes envelop the exterior in snow (natural), pine (green), coal (black), and ember (red). In the smallest model, these colours can be combined in both the interior and exterior, creating playful accents and striking compositions.

What a Hut manufactures its sauna benches from high-quality spruce offcuts left over from panel production, ensuring maximum material efficiency. Clients may also opt for benches made from other wood species according to their preferences.

To enhance the overall sauna experience, the company has introduced a new line of textile accessories – sauna hats, bathrobes, and multipurpose sheets. The earthy tones of these accessories refer to the colour palette used in the manufacturer’s Finnish saunas as well as to the brand’s visual identity.
