Tereza Šváchová
I was born a few days after the revolution in the north of the Czech Republic, among glassmakers. And that is simply something you can’t wash out. I like to channel my love of glass into my work as an architect. In architectural glass, I seek surprising and innovative approaches, always with full respect for such a distinctive material. I believe glass should not only materialize light but, above all, evoke emotions and encourage the observer to keep discovering.
I enjoy working with a diverse range of building typologies. I like designing cultural buildings that resonate with society as well as distinctive interiors—and there is always a place for glass in them.
I write about architecture for the magazine INTRO. Writing allows me a break from designing while remaining in my favorite environment.
I am passionate about my work for the Eliáška Foundation. I am not only a member of the supervisory board but also the architect of the entire project. Together, we are working to save and restore the former Elias Palme chandelier factory in Kamenický Šenov. Our goal is to create a center—for glassmaking, chandeliers, gatherings, and the everyday life of the Kamenický Šenov community. Conceptually, the project builds on my diploma thesis. A lifelong project? Absolutely.
